Undiknas Welcomes ASIA Exchange Program: Bali Beyond Borders for Enriching Cross-Cultural Learning Experience
Denpasar – Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) warmly welcomed participants of the ASIA Exchange Program: Bali Beyond Borders on November 4, 2024, marking the start of a comprehensive, week-long international program. Held in the Theatre Room of Undiknas, the opening ceremony was attended by Ida Nyoman Basmantra, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.M., the Head of the Undiknas International Office, along with the office’s team members.
The Bali Beyond Borders program, running from November 4 to 12, is designed to offer participants a unique blend of academic workshops and immersive excursions to Bali-based SMEs. This experience provides a deep dive into Indonesian culture, ASEAN market dynamics, and sustainable business strategies, equipping participants with theoretical and hands-on knowledge.
Throughout the program, participants will engage in sessions covering Indonesia’s rich history and culture, the economic landscape of ASEAN, and Indonesian political dynamics, as well as how these factors influence local and regional business strategies. A specific focus on Balinese social structures will help participants understand how community values shape local businesses. Additionally, workshops on Southeast Asian business practices will offer practical insights for effectively engaging with ASEAN markets.
One of the program’s core themes is environmental sustainability. Through dedicated workshops and an excursion to an SME in Bali known for sustainable practices, participants will explore how Indonesian businesses contribute to eco-friendly efforts in the ASEAN context.
The structured academic activities include diverse sessions and discussions on topics such as:
- Indonesia’s history and culture
- Business strategies for ASEAN market entry
- The ASEAN economy and its impact on businesses
- Balinese social organization and its influence on lifestyle and business
- Environmental sustainability and business practices in Southeast Asia
- Indonesian political dynamics and their impact on the business landscape
The program culminates with a group project presentation on the closing day, where each team will present a business strategy for SMEs aiming to enter the ASEAN market. This capstone project requires participants to select a theme related to Culture, Environment and Sustainability, SMEs, Business Strategy, Human Resources, or Political Dynamics, and to identify and address challenges observed during the program.
Each group will be given time to present their findings, followed by a Q&A session, allowing for an in-depth discussion on proposed solutions and insights. This presentation aims to not only enhance participants’ knowledge but also encourage innovative thinking and strategic solutions for real-world challenges faced by ASEAN SMEs.
By hosting Bali Beyond Borders, Undiknas strengthens its commitment to fostering global academic collaborations and promoting an understanding of ASEAN markets, culture, and sustainable business practices. This exchange program offers participants a comprehensive learning experience, equipping them with the skills and insights necessary for thriving in the ASEAN market while creating lasting cross-cultural connections.
With this collaborative effort, Undiknas once again reaffirms its dedication to preparing future leaders who are globally minded and environmentally conscious, ready to make a positive impact in the ASEAN region and beyond.
