Faculty of Tourism Undiknas Launches Industry-Class Program to Develop Globally Competitive and Job-Ready Tourism Professionals
Denpasar, 2025 – The Faculty of Tourism at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) has launched the Industry-Class Program as a strategic innovation in vocational higher education. This program is designed to address the challenges of the labor market and produce professional, adaptive, and globally competitive tourism human resources.
This initiative targets industry workers, particularly in the tourism and event sectors, enabling them to pursue higher education without having to leave their jobs. Emphasizing flexibility and the integration of theoretical and practical learning, the program incorporates participants’ daily professional experiences as part of the formal education system.
Learning Model: 70% Practice, 30% Theory
The Industry-Class Program adopts a learning model composed of 70% practice—gained directly through participants’ work activities within partner companies—and 30% theory delivered through in-person lectures at Undiknas.
The program spans 8 semesters and includes a total of 144 credits (SKS), based on a curriculum tailored to current industry standards and needs. It covers theoretical knowledge, technical skills, and essential soft skills required in the professional world.
For industry professionals, the program also offers a pathway for professional recognition, where daily work experience within partner companies can be converted into academic credits. These practical experiences are formally recognized as part of the semester credit system (SKS).
Key Benefits of the Program:
- Maintained productivity, as employees can study without leaving their jobs.
- Enhanced employee competence and loyalty, leading to improved service quality.
- Improved company image, as a business that supports education and HR development.
- Long-term partnerships with leading educational institutions such as Undiknas.
- Contribution to national development, especially in the tourism and event sectors.
The Faculty of Tourism at Undiknas offers two flagship undergraduate vocational (applied bachelor) programs:
- Tourism Destination Management
- Convention and Event Management (MICE)
Both programs are developed with a technopreneurship and smart tourism approach, integrating technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainable destination development. Through the Industry-Class Program, Undiknas reinforces its commitment to producing graduates who are job-ready, resilient, and aligned with the needs of the evolving industry.
