Homestay Program in the New Colombo Plan 2023: Exploring the Daily Life of Balinese People with UNDIKNAS and Edith Cowan University students
Denpasar – One of the most special moments in the New Colombo Plan 2023 is the Homestay Program, where foreign students live with a “host family” and experience first-hand the daily life of a family in Balinese society. Over three days and two nights, participants have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture and experience authentic experiences on this enchanted island.
The Homestay program brings students into the warmth and experience of a Balinese family, connecting them to the daily life of the local community. During their stay, participants are invited to participate in prayer activities and understand and appreciate religious traditions which are the core of life in Bali. Through this experience, they can explore the meaning of togetherness and spirituality which are closely related to Balinese culture.
Apart from participating in religious activities, the participants were also involved in various customary and traditional events that were taking place in the village environment where they lived. This is a unique opportunity for them to witness and participate in ceremonies, dances, and other distinctive events that showcase the richness of Balinese culture.
During the Homestay Program, students will also be involved in various interesting activities that are rarely encountered by tourists. Armed with the friendliness and friendliness of the host family, participants are invited to explore hidden places, get to know the daily life of rural communities, and taste authentic and delicious specialties.
