International Seminar: “Cyber Evidence in Corruption Investigation: A Practical Guide” at Undiknas
Denpasar – October 23, 2024 Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) hosted an international seminar titled “Cyber Evidence in Corruption Investigation: A Practical Guide.” This event focused on the critical role of digital evidence in investigating corruption cases in the digital era, targeting students and faculty of the Faculty of Law at Undiknas.
The seminar featured two distinguished speakers: Dr. Ketut Sumedana, S.H., M.H., Head of the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office, and I Wayan Budi Sentana, Ph.D., a legal and cyber expert.
The seminar was officially opened by the Rector of Undiknas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nyoman Sri Subawa, who underscored the importance of understanding digital evidence in handling corruption cases. The event was attended by vice-rectors, faculty members, and students of Undiknas.
The seminar explored issues such as cybersecurity threats, including hacking, identity theft, and online fraud. It also delved into legal complexities, particularly the integration of cyber evidence into corruption cases under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). Emphasis was placed on involving telematics experts in testing and presenting cyber evidence during investigations and trials. This ensures that evidence meets legal standards while maintaining transparency and public trust.
The seminar highlighted the importance of equipping future legal practitioners with knowledge in digital forensics and cyber law. By combining legal and technological expertise, Undiknas is committed to preparing students to effectively tackle modern legal challenges.
The event aligns with SDGs, particularly goals 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). It supports efforts to combat corruption and strengthens sustainable governance frameworks for the future.
