Undiknas Holds SESAAT BIJAK #5: Education and Socialization of Sustainable Waste Management
Denpasar – Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas), through the Public Administration Student Association (HIMAPRODI), successfully held the SESAAT BIJAK #5 (Social Education on Policy Compliance) program with the theme “Eco Friendly, Brighter Future, Through Sustainable Waste Management.” This event took place on July 19, 2024, at SMP N 3 Manggis, Antiga, Karangasem Regency, and was attended by faculty members and students from the Public Administration study program. Also present at the event was the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Humanities, Dr. I Made Wirya Darma, S.H., M.H., CCD.
The SESAAT BIJAK #5 program was packaged in the form of socialization and teaching, aiming to educate the students of SMP N 3 Manggis about the importance of sustainable waste management. This activity is part of Undiknas’ commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production, and Goal 13 on climate action.
In his speech, Dr. I Made Wirya Darma emphasized the importance of awareness regarding environmentally friendly waste management for a brighter future. “Sustainable waste management is a small but very significant step in creating a clean and healthy environment. Education like this is crucial to fostering environmental awareness and responsibility from an early age,” said Dr. I Made Wirya Darma.
Students and faculty from the Public Administration study program at Undiknas provided various educational materials on waste management, including recycling techniques, reducing plastic use, and reusing organic waste. The activity also included practical demonstrations involving students in creative and innovative waste management activities.
Through this activity, it is hoped that students can understand and apply the principles of sustainable consumption and production in their daily lives, as well as reduce, recycle, and reuse waste, thereby helping to reduce the negative impact on the environment and support climate change mitigation efforts.
Universitas Pendidikan Nasional, through the SESAAT BIJAK #5 program, continues to strive to create a positive impact on society and the environment. By educating the younger generation about the importance of sustainable waste management, Undiknas hopes to create a brighter and more sustainable future for all. This activity is also a tangible proof of Undiknas’ commitment to supporting the achievement of the SDGs and creating a more environmentally conscious society.
