Undiknas Student, Andi Akbar Wury, Selected as a Delegate at the International Youth Conference in New York, USA
Denpasar – Andi Akbar Wury, a student from the Management Study Program at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas), has achieved an outstanding accomplishment by being selected as a delegate for the International Youth Conference – Global Platform for Youth Engagement and Policymaking with the UN, held in New York, United States of America. This prestigious event serves as a global platform that brings together youth from around the world to participate in discussions and policymaking concerning youth engagement, organized by the United Nations (UN).
As one of the representatives from Indonesia, Andi Akbar Wury will join other young delegates to address global issues related to sustainable development, social inclusion, and equality. Andi’s participation in this conference reflects his commitment to playing an active role in international efforts to enhance youth involvement in impactful policymaking processes.
One of the key focuses of this conference is inclusion for people with disabilities, including the deaf and blind communities. In this context, sign language and Braille serve as essential communication tools that enable deaf and blind individuals to interact with their surroundings. Platforms like Handsign play a crucial role in providing access to sign language learning for the general public, bridging the gap between the deaf community and society at large.
Through the Handsign platform, users can easily learn sign language while promoting meaningful employment opportunities for the deaf and blind communities. This aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Handsign aims to ensure that the rights of individuals with disabilities are recognized, providing inclusive education and creating equal opportunities for everyone.
Andi Akbar Wury’s participation in this conference is expected to further inspire Undiknas students to contribute to positive change, both nationally and internationally. This achievement serves as a motivation for young people to continue developing their potential and participating in various global forums focused on important humanitarian and sustainable development issues.
