Undiknas Students Visit Indonesia Stock Exchange During Company Visit to Jakarta
Denpasar – From August 19 to 21, 2024, students from Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) embarked on a company visit to Jakarta, which included a visit to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This visit aimed to provide students with insights into the operations and significance of the stock exchange in the Indonesian financial landscape.
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is the primary stock exchange in Indonesia, formed by the merger of the Jakarta Stock Exchange (BEJ) and the Surabaya Stock Exchange (BES). This merger was part of the government’s efforts to enhance the effectiveness of operational and transactional processes in the stock market. The integrated exchange officially began operations on December 1, 2007, combining the stock market of Jakarta with the bond and derivatives market of Surabaya.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of the IDX, including its role in facilitating capital market transactions, the listing process for companies, and the regulatory framework governing the exchange. They also gained insights into how the stock exchange operates, the importance of investor education, and the impact of market trends on the economy.
The students participated in a guided tour of the exchange, where they were able to observe trading activities and understand the technologies and systems in place to support trading operations. Additionally, they attended presentations by IDX representatives who shared valuable information about investment opportunities and the importance of stock market participation for economic growth.
This visit to the Indonesia Stock Exchange is expected to enhance the students’ understanding of the capital market and its mechanisms. It also serves as a crucial part of their education in finance and investment, equipping them with practical knowledge that can be beneficial for their future careers in the finance sector.
Through this experience, Undiknas students are encouraged to explore potential career paths in finance, investment, and economics, as well as to apply the knowledge gained from this visit in their academic and professional pursuits.
