KBMHD Undiknas Hosts “Kebaya Goes to Campus” to Commemorate National Kebaya Day
Denpasar – The Hindu Dharma Student Association (KBMHD) of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) commemorated National Kebaya Day (HKN) by hosting the “Kebaya Goes to Campus” event on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Dwi Tunggal Auditorium, Undiknas. The event, themed “Preserving the National Kebaya Culture in Professional Life,” was attended by various dignitaries and academics (1/8/2024).
The event featured several prominent speakers, including keynote speaker Gusti Ayu Ngurah Eva Intan Swandhewi, S.E. (Chairperson of DWP LLDIKTI 8 Bali NTB), followed by experts in their respective fields, including Christiana Desinta Streiff Siswijana, representing the Foreign Leadership Council of PBI Europe; Dr. A. A. A. Ngurah Sri Rahayu Gorda, S.H., M.M., M.H., CCD, Vice Rector for Human Resources and Finance; Ir. IGA Agung Mirah Maheswari, Chairperson of the Education Division of PBI Bali; Putu Devi Maharani, Chairperson of the KBMHD Undiknas Deliberation Board; and moderated by A.A Ayu Triyana Tira from the Education Division of PBI Bali.
In her opening remarks, Gusti Ayu Ngurah Eva Intan Swandhewi emphasized the importance of preserving the kebaya culture as a national cultural heritage that must be maintained and passed on to future generations. “Wearing a kebaya is not only a cultural symbol but also a manifestation of national identity and pride in various professions,” she stated.
The event aimed to foster a sense of love and pride for local culture among students. Through the “Kebaya Goes to Campus” event, students were able to learn about and appreciate the kebaya as part of their cultural identity. This initiative is also a tangible commitment by Universitas Pendidikan Nasional to support cultural preservation and character education for its students. By involving the academic community in cultural activities, Undiknas hopes to strengthen cultural identity and promote sustainable cultural values.
Through this event, Undiknas continues its efforts to support the achievement of the SDGs and to nurture a generation that excels academically while also being aware of the importance of cultural preservation in the context of globalization and modern developments.
