KMK Undiknas Hosts Talkshow on Transforming Social Interactions in the Era of Social Media
Denpasar – Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas), through the Catholic Student Association (KMK), organized a talk show titled “Transforming Social Interactions through Social Media among Students” on May 25, 2024. The event took place from 09:30 WITA until its conclusion at Building C, Jack Ma Room, and was attended by students and members of the KMK Undiknas student organization.
The talk show featured Ida Bagus Gde Agung Yoga Pramana, S.Psi., M.Psi., a psychologist and lecturer at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional, as the main speaker. He discussed how social media has changed the way students interact and socialize. Additionally, the event addressed the impacts of social media on student interactions, as well as the opportunities and challenges it presents.
In his discussion, Ida Bagus Gde Agung Yoga Pramana explained that social media plays a crucial role in transforming contemporary social interactions. “Social media has become the primary platform for students to communicate, share information, and build social networks. However, it is important to note that unwise use can lead to negative effects, such as addiction and mental health issues,” he stated.
Besides discussing negative impacts, the talk show also explored the opportunities offered by social media. Students can utilize these platforms to develop their careers, broaden their knowledge, and engage in constructive discussions. Understanding digital literacy is essential for using social media positively and responsibly.
This event is also relevant to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on quality education and Goal 10 on reducing inequality. By understanding the impacts and opportunities of social media, students can make more informed decisions in using digital technology to support inclusive and sustainable education.
This activity is part of Undiknas’s commitment to providing holistic education to its students, not only in academic aspects but also in character and social skills development. “We hope that through this talk show, students will become more aware of the importance of ethics in using social media and can use it for positive purposes,” said a representative from KMK Undiknas.
