KMB Undiknas Celebrates Vesak Day with the Spirit of Love and Sustainability
Denpasar, Bali – In commemoration of Vesak Day, the Buddhist Student Group (KMB) of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) held a Joint Vesak Prayer event. Themed “Radiating Love to All Beings,” the event took place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Asoka Arama Vihara. The event was attended by all members of KMB Undiknas and the general public who also came to Asoka Arama Vihara. This event was not only a moment for worship but also a means to spread the spirit of love and peace to all beings, in accordance with the teachings of Buddha. The theme “Radiating Love to All Beings” reflects universal values that align with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the 16th goal related to peace, justice, and strong institutions. Through this event, KMB Undiknas aims to strengthen the sense of brotherhood and harmony among religious communities and encourage the creation of a peaceful and inclusive society.
The Joint Vesak Prayer event began with a prayer ritual led by a monk from Asoka Arama Vihara. Participants followed the series of prayers solemnly, followed by a Dharma talk emphasizing the importance of applying Buddha’s teachings in daily life. In the talk, the monk also highlighted the importance of sustainable living, maintaining peace, and strengthening social solidarity. With the spirit of togetherness and care, the Joint Vesak Prayer event organized by KMB Undiknas became an important moment in celebrating Vesak Day. Universitas Pendidikan Nasional fully supports this initiative as part of its commitment to supporting the achievement of the SDGs and building a generation of young people who are of good character and contribute positively to society. As a university, Undiknas is committed to continuously supporting activities that benefit society and the environment, as well as upholding noble values in every activity.
