Social Charity Program in the New Colombo Plan 2023: Strengthening Technological Innovation for Social Change in Bali
Denpasar – On Thursday, 13 July 2023, New Colombo Plan participants had the invaluable opportunity to visit one of the most inspiring non-profit organizations in Bali, namely Kopernik. This event is part of the Social Charity Program which aims to deepen understanding of technological innovations and their role in overcoming social problems in society. It was attended by New Colombo Plan 2023 participants from Edith Cowan University (ECU) and the University of National Education (Undiknas).
The participants enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to participate in the workshop and witnessed Kopernik’s real efforts in dealing with social challenges. Through technological innovations developed with the community, this organization is committed to reducing problems in remote and underdeveloped areas in Bali.
The experience of visiting Kopernik opened participants’ eyes to how technology can be a powerful tool for creating positive change in society. Through creativity and collaboration, technology can be adapted to address critical issues, such as access to clean water, renewable energy, education, and health.
Witnessing Kopernik’s efforts to provide affordable, socially impactful technology-based solutions in remote areas, New Colombo Plan participants realized that technological innovation can be a major driver of sustainable change in society.
In addition, direct interaction with the community involved in technological innovation also provides valuable experiences for the participants. They can understand in depth the needs and aspirations of the local community. It provides a holistic view of how technological innovations can be adapted to local contexts and cultures, resulting in relevant and efficient solutions.
Participation in the Social Charity Program is an important momentum for New Colombo Plan participants to realize the great potential of technological innovation in improving social conditions and increasing people’s welfare. This also inspires them to be actively involved in building sustainable, technology-based solutions in the future.
In high spirits, the participants returned to their academic environment with renewed confidence and a stronger commitment to using their knowledge and skills to create a positive and meaningful impact on society.
