Undiknas and KPID Bali Join Hands to Accelerate the Media Literacy Movement
Denpasar – Good news for young people in Bali! The Bali Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) and the Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) have just synergized to implement the Merdeka Learn Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program and strengthen the media literacy movement for TV and radio viewers. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Undiknas and KPID Bali was held at the Undiknas Theater Room on 28 April 2023, which was attended by the Chancellor of Undiknas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Subawa, S.T., S.Sos., M.M., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., and Chair of the Bali KPID, I Gede Agus Astapa, S.Sos., S.Ikom., M.M.
Apart from signing the MoU, the event was also filled with a talk show session discussing the theme “TV and Radio Audience Literacy Movement in the Digital Media Era”. Undiknas Vice Rector for Academic Development, Dr. Ni Wayan Widhiasthini, S.Sos., M.Sc. and the Chairman of the Bali KPID became the resource person in the talk show, while Drs. Ida Bagus Ketut Agung Ludra acted as moderator.
This synergy activity aims to strengthen the media literacy movement in the digital era and target millennials as an active extension of media literacy for the wider community. Young people are the main target because they are the generation that is constantly engaged in the use of digital technology. By understanding media literacy, young people can become intelligent and critical viewers and can contribute to building a more cultured society.
Through the synergy between Undiknas and KPID Bali, it is hoped that sustainable collaboration will be created in developing the media literacy movement in Bali. As institutions, Undiknas and KPID Bali have an important role in ensuring that the wider community has access to quality information and can understand well what is conveyed through broadcast media.
Therefore, young people need to be active in the media literacy movement and take part in the programs offered by Undiknas and KPID Bali. By becoming intelligent and critical viewers, young people can become agents of change that bring positive influences to the wider community. Come on, let’s support the media literacy movement in Bali.
