95th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional: Achieving Sustainable Development Through Quality Education
Denpasar – Saturday, July 6, 2024, the 95th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) was held at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. The event was attended by a lineup of distinguished guests, the academic community, including graduates’ families, and other invitees. Dr. ATNIKE NOVA SIGIRO, M.Sc., the Chairperson of the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights, was also present to sign an MoU with Undiknas and deliver a Scientific Oration to the graduates.
In his speech, the Rector of Undiknas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nyoman Sri Subawa, S.T., S.Sos., M.M., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., expressed his gratitude and pride in the graduates’ achievements. He emphasized the important role of higher education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in terms of improving education quality, access, inclusivity, and international collaboration.
“Educational institutions play an active role in realizing the fourth SDG, which is ‘Quality Education.’ All levels of education, including higher education, are required to continuously create, innovate, and improve the quality of education to ultimately contribute to the welfare of society,” he stated.
Undiknas has developed various innovations in learning methods, including the development of a Learning Management System (LMS) that supports blended learning methods. This commitment is also reflected in the receipt of a Grant for the Development of Mandatory Course Learning Models in Higher Education Curriculum (MKWK) in 2024 from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Additionally, the Rector of Undiknas stated that the university continues to enhance access to education for underprivileged communities through various scholarship programs.
“Undiknas provides educational cost assistance (scholarships) to reach outstanding prospective students from disadvantaged backgrounds, remote areas, and minority groups. This aligns with the government’s vision to realize an intelligent Indonesia through superior human resources.”
This policy applies not only to domestic students but also to foreign students who wish to continue their studies at Undiknas. Various international collaborations have been established with institutions such as Teesside University UK and GTNT Group – Institute of Skills and Training Australia, serving as tangible evidence of Undiknas’ efforts to strengthen its international reputation and achieve the golden generation by 2030. This is also reflected in Undiknas being ranked 1st in Bali, 44th in Indonesia, and +1501st in the world by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024.
In this graduation ceremony, Undiknas proudly graduated 202 students from various study programs, both undergraduate and master’s levels. Special recognition was given to graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) from each study program. They are Ni Putu Dea Arina Lestari (Management), Ni Komang Pebriyanti (Accounting), Intan Brilian Patricia J. Ana (Public Administration), Ketut Ade Rahayuni (Communication Science), Albinia Kireyna (Law), I Made Lanang Manik Arya Wangsa (Civil Engineering), Gde Agus Sujayana (Electrical Engineering), Gusi Ayu Tantyana Wira Devi (Information Technology), I Made Dwija Pramana Putra (Master of Management), Desak Ayu Candra Wahyuni (Master of Public Administration), and Nyoman Arjana (Master of Law).
Not only academic achievements, but awards were also given to active students who have excelled at the international level. Among them, I Gede Ketut Bagus Suardana and Ni Putu Yulina Aprilia Kusuma from the International Business Management program at Undiknas successfully participated in studies at HELP University, Malaysia, in the Bachelor of Management (Hons) program. Meanwhile, Ni Kadek Tia Puspita from the same program successfully transferred her studies to Edith Cowan University, Australia, in the Bachelor of Commerce program. These various achievements reflect the quality of education and Undiknas’ support in developing its students’ potential.
The 95th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional marks an important milestone in the graduates’ journey towards a bright future.
