Privilege for Undiknas: Australian-Indonesian Consulate General Meeting with Top 5 Universities in Bali

Denpasar – Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) was honored to be invited to a limited meeting between the Australian-Bali Consul-General and the 5 (five) best universities in Bali (11/02/2022). This meeting aims to introduce Mr. Han Xiao Zhang as Education and Research Counsellor from the Australian Department of Education, Skills and Employment at the Australia-Indonesia Embassy. Also present at the meeting, the Australian-Bali Consul-General (CG), Madam Anthea Griffin, from Undiknas was represented by the Deputy Chancellor for Cooperation and Entrepreneurship at Undiknas, Mr. Agus Fredy Maradona, Ph.D. and also the Head of the Undiknas International Affairs Office, Ida Nyoman Basmantra, M.Pd., M.M.

In the discussion scheduled at Andaz Sanur, Undiknas was involved in a warm discussion related to education issues in Bali and Australia which in the future could be facilitated and collaborated with the Australian-Indonesian Consul General. On this auspicious occasion, Undiknas also reported on the active collaboration that Undiknas has established with several universities in Australia from 2017 to 2022. These activities include international enrichment programs, international credit transfers, doctoral studies by Undiknas lecturers, as well as internships and research collaborations carried out by the Undiknas academic community. Undiknas has a track record of being the most active with universities in Australia, including Edith Cowan University (ECU), Murdoch University, Southern Cross University (SCU), and other universities, particularly in implementing these programs.

In future opportunities, Undiknas appealed to the Australian Consul General to facilitate programs for Australian students to come to Bali, as a destination for education tourism. Students are not only on vacation, but can also be packaged with educational tourism with the concept of “Study in Paradise Island”. Undiknas is also ready to coordinate and actively contribute to facilitating and implementing Australian Government programs related to education, colombo plans, research collaboration, short courses, study tours, etc.

The meeting at noon ended with lunch while having a warm discussion, welcoming the opening of the Australian-Indonesian flight border. It is hoped that this situation will continue sustainably and will be a breath of fresh air so that conditions can return to normal as before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world.
