Edith Cowan University and Undiknas Launch New Colombo Plan 2025
Denpasar, Bali, November 24, 2025 – Edith Cowan University (ECU) and Undiknas University officially launched the New Colombo Plan 2025, marking a significant milestone in international academic collaboration. The program was inaugurated through a series of events designed to strengthen educational ties and cultural exchange between Australia and Indonesia. The initiative reflects both institutions’ commitment to fostering global partnerships and enhancing student mobility across borders.

The launching ceremony began with an opening session attended by representatives from both universities, highlighting the importance of the collaboration. Distinguished speakers emphasized the role of the New Colombo Plan in providing students with opportunities to broaden their academic horizons while gaining valuable intercultural experiences. The event also underscored the shared vision of ECU and Undiknas University in promoting inclusive and innovative education. One of the key highlights of the program was the Cross-Cultural Understanding session, which encouraged students to engage in meaningful dialogue about cultural diversity. This activity provided a platform for participants to explore similarities and differences between Australian and Indonesian cultures, fostering mutual respect and deeper appreciation. The session was interactive, allowing students to share perspectives and build connections that extend beyond the classroom.

In addition, the program featured a Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) training, aimed at introducing Edith Cowan University students to the Indonesian language. This initiative not only equips students with essential communication skills but also strengthens their ability to immerse themselves in the local community during their academic journey. The BIPA training reflects the broader goal of the New Colombo Plan 2025: to prepare students as global citizens who are linguistically and culturally competent in navigating international contexts.
