Undiknas Has Inaugurated Dozens of Engineering 5.0: Acceleration of Development Through Utilization of Technology and Soft-Skill
Denpasar – Rector of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas), Prof. Dr. Ir. Nyoman Sri Subawa, S.T., S. Sos., M.M., IPM. has inaugurated 31 engineers, who graduated from the Profession of Engineer Study Program, Faculty of Engineering and Informatics Undiknas. The Appointed of engineers was held offline at the Undiknas Dwi Tunggal Auditorium while still implementing a fairly strict Health protocol.
This event was attended by the Rector and the Vice-Rector, deans and heads of study programs, and heads of university-level institutions who had the opportunity to attend. Also present at this event, was the Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) Bali Region, Dr. Ir. Ngakan Ketut Acwin Dwijendra, ST, SDs, MA, IPU, ASEAN Eng.
The activity was opened with the presentation of the Sekar Jagat Dance from the Bhanda Iswari Dance UKM Undiknas, followed by prayer together as an expression of gratitude for holding the inauguration activities on that afternoon until the evening day. The agenda was continued with the reading of the Rector’s Decree regarding the Appointment of Undiknas Engineers for the V Odd Semester 2021/2022 and followed by the inauguration procession of engineers by the Rector of Undiknas.
The inauguration procession was marked with the given of a certificate and the wearing of an Engineer Helmet by the Rector. The inauguration ceremony was solemnly and full of meaning, as a sign of the beginning of the inauguration participants’ journey as engineers and officially bearing the title of engineer (Ir.) in front of their names.
In his speech, the Rector of Undiknas said that 5.0 engineers were becoming an interesting issue to discuss, not long after the acceleration of the use of technology and increasing digital literacy in the community. Previously, the industrial revolution 4.0 did not only require engineers to master basic scientific technical skills but also to be able to work collaboratively and master information technology. Engineer 5.0 is faced with new challenges, an engineer is expected to have soft skills to become a “servant” of the community who is equipped with high sympathy and empathy. The ability for social intelligence, foreign languages, and providing excellent service, will later become a mandatory hard-skill companion.
“I hope that with the birth of new engineers from the Undiknas Professional Engineer Study Program, they can have the ability to analyze, research, and design through the use of technology and armed with the required soft skills, in contributing to the acceleration of infrastructure development in Indonesia, ASEAN, and the world. .” said the Rector of Undiknas in his speech.
In line with the Rector of Undiknas, Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) for the Bali Region, Dr. Ir. Ngakan Ketut Acwin Dwijendra, S.T, SD.s, M.A., IPU., ASEAN.Eng. also conveyed that the engineers who had been inaugurated at this event could carry out their roles as the Professional Oath that had been conveyed by the engineers. Do not stop there, Dr. Acwin Dwijendra, reminded that this is not the end of the learning process of an engineer, there are still other stages in the career level of an engineer, which can become a new goal for engineers graduating from Undiknas, according to what is stated in the engineering level at the Indonesian Engineers Association.
