Turning Waste into Wealth: UNDIKNAS Entrepreneurship Union Successfully Launches KWH Abdi PM 2026 in Taro Village
GIANYAR – The Entrepreneurship Student Union (UKM Kewirausahaan) of the University of National Education (Undiknas) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community empowerment. Through the KWH Abdi PM Undiknas 2026, dozens of students visited Taro Traditional Village, Gianyar, to educate residents on the economic potential hidden within organic waste management.
The event, which is a pivotal part of the ETNEXTION series, took place over two days and one night, from Saturday, March 7, to Sunday, March 8, 2026. Held at the Lembu Putih Tourism Object, the program carried a dual mission: fostering creative business socialization and taking direct action through environmental social work.
Maggot Innovation: A Solution for Sanitation and Business Opportunities
The primary focus of this year’s initiative was the utilization of maggot (Black Soldier Fly larvae) as effective decomposers for household waste.Under the theme “Developing Organic Waste into Useful Business Products,” participants and residents were encouraged to see organic waste not just as an environmental issue, but as an asset that can be transformed into high-value marketable products.
The core agenda was comprehensive, beginning with educational sessions led by expert speakers who shared strategies for turning waste into profitable business models. Moving beyond theory, students and locals engaged in hands-on maggot management training to master cultivation techniques that enhance environmental sanitation. The program concluded with a social work action where members of the Entrepreneurship Union worked together to preserve the ecosystem around Taro Traditional Village.
Synergy Between Students and the Taro Community
The event involved 75 committee members and 56 participants from the 2024 and 2025 cohorts of the Undiknas Entrepreneurship Union. Their presence was warmly welcomed by the Head of Taro Traditional Village, who provided full support during the opening ceremony.
“”The goal of KWH Abdi PM is to ensure that our members are not only theoretically sound in business but also capable of identifying environmental challenges and providing real solutions for the community, particularly in waste management,” stated a committee representative in the official release.
Despite minor technical challenges on-site, the entire series of events was completed successfully. Through this initiative, Taro Traditional Village is expected to become a pioneer in independent, creative economy-based waste management, inspiring other villages in Bali to transform waste into sustainable economic opportunities.
