READY TO CONTRIBUTE AND CREATE IMPACT: Undiknas Faculty of Tourism Explores Strategic Synergy with PHRI Bali
DENPASAR – Strengthening its commitment to “being present for Bali’s tourism and creating real impact,” the leadership of the Faculty of Tourism at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) held a strategic audience meeting with the Regional Board (BPD) of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali on Tuesday (11/11).
The warm and constructive meeting at the PHRI Bali office focused on two key agendas: strengthening industry–academia synergy and supporting data-driven innovation.
The first agenda discussed was the initiation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Undiknas Faculty of Tourism and PHRI Bali. This collaboration is designed to align and synergize the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Education, Research, and Community Service) with the practical needs of Bali’s hospitality and restaurant industries.
“We at the Undiknas Faculty of Tourism do not want to be an ivory tower. We want to be present and create real impact,” stated the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Dr. Ngakan. He continued, “Synergizing the Tri Dharma with PHRI Bali is key to ensuring that our graduates, research outputs, and community service initiatives remain relevant and truly provide solutions to the challenges of Bali’s tourism today and in the future.”
The second critical agenda was the request for support from PHRI Bali for an international-scale grant initiative. The Undiknas Faculty of Tourism is currently submitting a proposal for the Australia Indonesia Institute (AII) grant, involving strategic partners Victoria University (Australia) and Binus University. As part of the process, the Faculty formally requested a Letter of Support (LoS) from PHRI Bali as a key representative of the industry.
The grant proposal focuses on developing a no-code Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution leveraging open data sources. The goal is to promote the implementation of 3D (Data-Driven Decision-Making), enabling tourism stakeholders to make more precise decisions based on data.
This initiative is specifically designed to support businesses in making more accurate and sustainable decisions rooted in the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) as well as Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI).
“PHRI Bali welcomes this outstanding initiative from Undiknas,” said a representative of BPD PHRI Bali. “The tourism industry urgently needs accurate data support. The 3D concept you propose, particularly with its focus on ESG and GEDSI, is highly relevant. We are ready to support and collaborate for a stronger and more sustainable future for Bali’s tourism.” concluded the Head of the Tourism Destination Study Program, Dr. Sri Wisudawati.
