Undiknas Karawitan and Dance Student Units Showcase Cultural Performance at the 47th Bali Arts Festival
Denpasar, July 4, 2025 – The Karawitan Student Activity Unit (UKM Karawitan) Taksu Abhinaya in collaboration with the Dance Student Activity Unit (UKM Tari) Bhanda Iswari of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) took part in enlivening the annual cultural event, the 47th Bali Arts Festival (PKB XLVII). For this year’s performance, the two UKMs presented the Bapang Barong Dance and a dance-drama (fragmentari) titled “Sang Japa Tuan Samyoga Jagadhita”, which symbolizes prayer and devotion to the Creator as a path toward universal harmony and happiness.
Undiknas’ involvement in PKB reflects the real contribution of the younger generation in preserving and sustaining Bali’s traditional arts and culture. Through the harmonious collaboration of traditional music and dance, Undiknas students demonstrated their dedication to upholding local cultural values amidst the growing tide of modernity.
This performance served not only as an expression of the university’s active participation in the arts and cultural scene, but also as a contextual learning medium for students to understand the philosophy and noble values embedded in every movement of the dance and in the rhythms of the traditional gamelan ensemble.
Through their participation in the Bali Arts Festival, Undiknas hopes to continue contributing to the preservation of Balinese culture, particularly in the fields of traditional dance and gamelan music. This initiative is part of the university’s commitment to ensuring that cultural heritage is not only remembered but kept alive from one generation to the next.
