iSHARE #3: UKM iSee Undiknas Builds Branding for Taro Village Through Visual Media
Taro, Gianyar – Taro Village, known as one of Bali’s oldest villages with its well-preserved natural beauty and culture, became the location for iSHARE #3, iSee iShare iCare 2024, a social initiative organized by UKM iSee of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas). This two-day event involved SMKN 2 Tegalalang and the Lembu Putih Conservation as its main venues. Carrying the theme “Building Strong Branding Through Visual Media,” the event aimed to help Taro Village strengthen its branding and identity through visual media.
Located in Tegalalang District, Gianyar, Taro Village holds great potential, especially through the uniqueness of the Lembu Putih Conservation, which can only be found in this village. iSHARE #3 sought to assist the village in utilizing visual media such as photography, cinematography, and graphic design as effective communication tools. With a stronger brand identity, Taro Village is expected to increase public awareness of its uniqueness and values, while also building a positive reputation among tourists.
Main Session: Branding a Village Through Photography & Cinematography
In the event’s main session, Purwita Adi Santosa, a student from Undiknas, delivered a presentation titled “How to Brand a Village With Photography & Cinematography.” This session was attended by the Head of Taro Village (Perbekel), representatives from the Lembu Putih Conservation, and members of Sekaa Teruna Teruni Giri Madya Taro Kaja (a local youth organization). The session provided insights into the importance of visual media in promoting the village to the public and tourists.
Additionally, hands-on practice was given to students from SMKN 2 Tegalalang, introducing them to the use of visual technology as an effective communication tool. This initiative is expected to empower local youth to contribute to their village’s development through creative approaches.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The iSHARE #3 event not only helped promote Taro Village but also contributed to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
- Decent Work and Economic Growth – Effective village branding can drive tourism growth, create new economic opportunities, and strengthen the local economy.
- Sustainable Cities and Communities – By leveraging visual media to enhance the village’s identity, this initiative supports efforts to make Taro Village a sustainable community in terms of economy, culture, and tourism.
- Quality Education – Involving SMKN 2 Tegalalang students in visual media education provides them with valuable learning experiences aligned with modern industry needs.
Through this initiative, UKM iSee Undiknas has demonstrated how visual media can serve as a strategic tool for village development, raising public awareness, and contributing to the achievement of SDGs. Moving forward, events like iSHARE are expected to continue expanding their impact on society and the environment.
