Universitas Pendidikan Nasional Psychology Team Holds Social Service with Free Counseling at Bajra Sandhi
Denpasar, May 19, 2024 – The Psychology Team from Universitas Pendidikan Nasional organized a social service event at Bajra Sandhi Renon Field. The event coincided with the weekly Car Free Day held in the area and included free counseling sessions for the public.
This activity is part of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional’s contribution to providing healthcare services to the community. The event attracted significant attention, particularly because it offered easily accessible counseling services to the general public at no cost.
Dr. Kadek Januarsa Adi Sudharma S.H., M.H., C.P.C.L.E., C.Med., CCD, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, was present to support the event. On this occasion, Dr. Kadek Januarsa expressed his hope that this activity would help maintain the mental health of the community. He also hopes to change the negative stigma often associated with counseling sessions with psychologists, which are still frequently considered embarrassing to attend.
“Through this activity, we hope that the community will be more open and not hesitate to seek psychological assistance. Mental health is as important as physical health, and we want to convey this understanding to the wider community,” said Dr. Kadek Januarsa.
The social service activity conducted by Universitas Pendidikan Nasional is also an implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proclaimed by the United Nations (UN), specifically:
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. By providing free counseling services, this activity contributes to improving the mental health of the community. Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being, and access to affordable mental health services is an important step in achieving this goal.
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, which aims to reduce inequality within and among countries. Through free counseling services, Universitas Pendidikan Nasional aims to help reduce the disparity in access to mental health services. This is particularly important as mental health services are often not affordable for all segments of the population, especially those who are less privileged.
Through this initiative, Universitas Pendidikan Nasional demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and improving community well-being. It is planned that this activity will continue to be carried out regularly to provide broader and sustainable benefits to the community.
