Ever met someone who speaks with absolute confidence, even though they\u2019re clearly wrong? Well, there\u2019s actually a theory for this, and it\u2019s called the Dunning-Kruger Effect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This theory came about thanks to a true story of a robber named McArthur Wheeler<\/strong> in the U.S. Back in 1995, Wheeler confidently robbed a bank\u2026 without wearing a mask! His face was clearly recorded by CCTV, and of course, he was easily caught by the police. When asked why he didn\u2019t cover his face, Wheeler said: \u201cBut I rubbed lemon juice on my face, so the camera shouldn\u2019t have seen me!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Yes, he really believed that bizarre idea. From this case, psychologists David Dunning<\/strong> and Justin Kruger<\/strong> began studying the phenomenon of people who think they\u2019re smart, when in reality, they actually know very little.<\/p>\n

So, What is the Dunning-Kruger Effect?<\/h3>\n

In simple terms, this effect describes a condition where:<\/p>\n

    People with low competence are often overconfident<\/strong>, because they don\u2019t realize how little they actually know.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Meanwhile, truly competent people tend to doubt themselves<\/strong>, because they understand just how vast knowledge really is.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The result? The world often ends up being dominated by the loud voices of those who \u201cdon\u2019t really know,\u201d instead of the genuine experts.<\/p>\n
