Keywords, in the context of search engine optimization (SEO), are words or phrases that users use to search for information on the internet. Choosing the right and strategic keywords is one of the key factors in the success of an SEO campaign. Below we will discuss several types of keywords that are commonly used in SEO and their role and function:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Short-tail keywords<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Short-tail keywords, also called broad keywords, are keywords that consist of only one or two words. For example, “shoes”, “food”, or “Bali tourism”. This keyword generally has a high search volume but also competes closely with large sites. Although it can bring huge traffic to a website, high competition makes it difficult to improve its ranking.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Role and Function: Short-tail keywords are more general and broader so they can reach a wider audience. However, because it competes with many large sites, it is difficult to rank high in search engines.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Mid-tail keywords<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Mid-tail keywords are a combination of short-tail keywords that are extended with additional supporting words. For example, “Adidas sports shoes”, “healthy food for a diet”, or “the most popular culinary tours in Bali”. These keywords have a lower search volume than short-tail keywords but also have a lower level of competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Role and Function: Mid-tail keywords have lower competitiveness than short-tail keywords but are still relevant to the content presented. This makes it easier to rank well in search engines and attract traffic related to more specific topics.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Long-tail keywords<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Long-tail keywords are long, specific search phrases, often consisting of three or more words. For example, “the latest Adidas sports shoes 2024”, “healthy food for a low carbohydrate diet”, or “Bali culinary tour with a beach view”. Despite having low search volume, long-tail keywords tend to attract more targeted and qualified traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Role and Function: Long-tail keywords are very specific and relevant to the user’s search needs. Even though it has a low search volume, the chances of ranking high in search engines are much greater. Additionally, users who search using long-tail keywords tend to have a higher intent to perform certain actions, such as purchasing or registering.<\/span><\/p>\n

        In SEO strategy, choosing the right keywords is very important. By understanding the differences and roles of each type of keyword, we can optimize our website to attract relevant traffic and improve search engine rankings.
